titleOfInvention Integrated circuit
abstract Code decoders and many other types of communication devices require timing information to enable them to transmit and receive digital information at appropriate times. In the case of multiple code decoders (e.g. 101 ... 104) on a single integrated circuit, this is to provide each transmit and receive frame sync pulse (e.g., FST 0 ... FST 3 ; FSR 0 ... FSR 3 ) for each code decoder. In general, a suitable terminal is required. Optionally, a microprocessor interface is included so that internal registers can be loaded with transmit and receive timing information. However, this approach limits timing usefulness. In the present invention, the frame sync separation pulse (FSEP) is supplied to an integrated circuit (e.g., 301) to achieve separation in time between transmit and receive sync pulses. In this way, the number of integrated circuit terminals required for synchronization can be reduced.
