abstract |
The present invention relates to an elastase inhibitory protein isolated from Korean hematopoietic leech (Hirudo nipponia) and a method for producing the same. Elastase inhibitory protein has a molecular weight of 6,110 Da consisting of a total of 57 amino acid residues. Its active sites are 36 methionine and 37 isoleucine, which specifically inhibit only Elastase. It is also stable against heat, strong acids and strong bases. Elastase inhibitory proteins of the present invention inhibit these activities by inhibiting the activity of electric Elastase against diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, emphysema, and psoriasis caused by excess Elastase. It can be used for the mass production through genetic engineering techniques because it can be used for the treatment of the genetic information from its amino acid sequence. |
