A catalyst comprising at least one element selected from the group consisting of: a catalyst supported on at least one of silica-boria-alumina complex oxides or zeolites having a molar ratio of silica to alumina of 30 or more, based on 1 liter of catalyst The amount of the first catalyst component is 0.1 to 10 g, the amount of the second catalyst component is 0.01 to 5 g, and the weight ratio of the second component to the first component is less than one.n n n The catalyst of the present invention removes, by oxidative decomposition, what is contained in the exhaust gas by contacting the exhaust gas containing HC1 and dioxin with the catalyst, while dioxin is removed from the precursor for dioxin coexisting in the exhaust gas.
