abstract | The present invention provides novel microorganisms having the ability to magnetize 2,4,6-trichlorophenol. The strain of the present invention isolated from the plant wastewater is Pseudomonas solanacearum TCP 114 (KCTC 0106BP), which can magnetize high concentrations of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, such magnetization such as glucose or succinic acid. It does not deteriorate even when there exists a carbon source which is easy to decompose. Moreover, the ability to degrade aromatic toxic compounds such as aniline, p-cresol or benzoic acid is also shown. Therefore, the strains of the present invention are useful for treating industrial wastewater containing a large amount of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol, especially wastewater from pulp or paper mills containing aromatic compounds as well as 2,4,6-trichlorophenol.
