abstract | [Problems] The problems to be solved by the present invention are that the dielectric anisotropy (Δε) is negative, the absolute value is large, the isotropic transition temperature (Tni) is high, the viscosity (η) is low, and the refractive index is different. The object is to provide a composition having a large directivity (Δn), a high compatibility, and hardly causing deterioration due to heat or light. [Solution Means] The present inventor has studied various liquid crystal compounds and various chemical substances, and found that the above problems can be solved by combining the compounds represented by the general formula (i).
