abstract Leakage can be prevented more reliably from the tube wall of the long member constituting the catheter shaft, and the outer peripheral length of the long member constituting the catheter shaft is formed to be small and the pushability is improved. It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved balloon catheter and a method for producing a balloon catheter elongated member that enables simple production. The balloon catheter (10) is disposed along a distal shaft (410) made of a resin material, a proximal shaft (420) made of a metal material, and an inclined portion (428) and a recess (441) of the proximal shaft. An inner tube shaft (510), and the distal shaft is joined to the proximal shaft at the narrow diameter portion (429) on the proximal side of the distal end opening (421a) of the proximal shaft. The distal end opening of the proximal shaft is disposed closer to the distal end than the guide wire proximal end opening (213a).
