Provided is an electrode binder capable of preparing a slurry for an electrode that is excellent in dispersibility and can exhibit excellent output characteristics and high-temperature cycle characteristics in a secondary battery. The binder for an electrode of the present invention contains a polymer and an organic solvent, and the polymer has a structural unit derived from a monofunctional ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid ester monomer of 45% by mass or more and 69.9% by mass or less, derived from an aromatic vinyl monomer. Are contained in a proportion of 30% by mass or more and 54.9% by mass or less, and a structural unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated nitrile monomer in a proportion of 0.1% by mass or more and 10% by mass or less. |
