According to one embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to provide a bactericide containing an aqueous solution containing hydrogen peroxide, an organic phosphonic acid or a salt thereof, and an aluminum salt. Furthermore, according to another embodiment of the present invention, it is possible to provide a method for sterilizing an object, wherein the sterilizing agent is brought into contact with the object as mist or steam. The organic phosphonic acid is preferably a compound represented by the following general formula (1).
