abstract | 1,3-bis (3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) -5,7, which is a novel bisphenol compound having an adamantane skeleton, which can be used as a raw material for various resins excellent in heat resistance, optical properties, and mechanical strength properties -Provision of dimethyladamantane compounds. It is another object of the present invention to provide a polycarbonate resin and a resin composition characterized by excellent heat resistance and high surface altitude. The above-described problem includes a 1,3-bis (3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) -5,7-dimethyladamantane compound, a method for producing the compound, and a structural unit represented by the following formula (1).
