abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method and a kit for detecting and quantifying a detection target in a specimen, which can separate a nonspecific reaction substance from the specimen in a short time. A method for detecting or quantifying a detection target in a specimen includes a binding substance in which an aggregating substance containing a stimulus-responsive substance and a particulate magnetic substance and an affinity substance for a substance other than the detection target are combined, and the specimen. It has a step of separating the aggregated binding substance A by applying a magnetic force under conditions where the stimulus-responsive substance aggregates to the mixture, and detecting or quantifying the detection target in the subsequent mixture.
