abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a glucan containing at least one residue selected from an N-acetylglucosamine residue and a galactose residue and a modified product thereof. The branched glucan of the present invention is at least one selected from an N-acetylglucosamine residue and a galactose residue at each of two or more non-reducing ends of a plurality of non-reducing ends of a branched α-1,4 glucan. One residue is α-1,4 linked, but there is no N-acetylglucosamine residue or galactose residue at a position other than the non-reducing end of the branched α-1,4 glucan. It is a glucan.
