abstract | Provided is a resin composition capable of aligning a polymerizable liquid crystal with high sensitivity after thermosetting using photo-alignment technology, and exhibiting high birefringence, high solvent resistance, heat resistance and high transparency. To do. A resin composition comprises (A) an acrylic copolymer having a photodimerization site comprising a hydrophobic group and a thermal crosslinking site comprising a hydrophilic group, and (B) a polyimide precursor having an aromatic ring site. And (C) a crosslinking agent that crosslinks the component (A) and the component (B). The component (A) can also be an acrylic copolymer obtained by a polymerization reaction of a monomer mixture containing a monomer having a photodimerization site and a monomer having a thermal crosslinking site. Moreover, (A) component can be made into the acrylic copolymer obtained by the polymerization reaction of the monomer mixture which contains 25 to 90 mol% of monomers which have a photodimerization part with respect to the sum total of all the monomer mixtures. The component (A) can also be an acrylic copolymer obtained by a polymerization reaction of a monomer containing a monomer having a photodimerization site and a monomer having a thermal crosslinking site.
