abstract The present invention relates to a microorganism capable of producing a polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) containing 3-hydroxyhexanoic acid (3HH) units, and a method for producing 3HH-containing PHA using the microorganism. Construction of microorganisms with improved productivity of 3HH-containing PHA by selectively inactivating phbA gene on the chromosome and enhancing bktB gene expression in microorganisms originally having phbA and bktB genes can do. Then, by culturing the microorganism with a carbon source containing butyric acid or a butyric acid derivative and / or butanol or a butanol derivative, high productivity of 3HH-containing PHA, particularly PHA containing 3HH in a ratio of 10 mol% or more is obtained. Can be fermented.
