abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a 2-phenylnicotinic acid derivative having a uric acid lowering action by an excellent xanthine oxidase inhibitory action, which is useful as a therapeutic or preventive agent for hyperuricemia and gout. Since the 2-phenylnicotinic acid derivative of the present invention has an excellent uric acid lowering action by inhibiting xanthine oxidase and also has a lipid lowering action, hyperuricemia is often accompanied by hyperlipidemia as a complication. It is very useful as a remedy or preventive for gout and gout.
