abstract The function of a gene having a CPC-like Myb sequence whose function is unknown is analyzed, and a novel mutant plant is provided based on the obtained knowledge. The function of any one of the following proteins is suppressed. (A) a protein consisting of the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 2 (b) consisting of an amino acid sequence in which one or more amino acids are substituted, deleted, added or inserted in the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 2 and controls epidermal cell differentiation A protein that functions as a transcription factor that suppresses the function of the above protein can yield a characteristic phenotype that can grow larger than the wild type.
