abstract | By inhibiting the function of a transcription factor that promotes transcription of a gene involved in the amount of lignin and cellulose, a plant body in which the amount of lignin and cellulose is reduced without reducing the amount of glucan is produced. In this plant body, the glucan in the cell wall component obtained is in a state of being easily saccharified. Moreover, in this plant body, the natural cleavage of the pod is suppressed. As a method of inhibiting the transcription factor, a chimeric gene with a polynucleotide encoding a functional peptide that converts the transcription factor into a transcriptional repressor is introduced into a plant cell, and the transcription factor and the functional peptide are used. Examples thereof include a method of producing a fused chimeric protein in plant cells, or a method of inhibiting the expression of the transcription factor such as a knockout method or RNAi method. Thereby, the plant body which reduced the amount of lignin and the amount of cellulose, without reducing the amount of glucan is provided. |
