An object of the present invention is to provide a novel amidase useful for the production of optically active amino acids, particularly D-amino acids, and a method for producing the same. The present invention is a novel D-amidase isolated and purified from Arthrobacter sp. KNK1101J strain. A gene encoding the amidase, a recombinant plasmid containing the gene, and a transformant introduced with the amidase gene. The present invention is also a method for producing an amidase, in which an Arthrobacter sp. KNK1101J strain or the above transformant is cultured and the amidase is collected. |
