The present invention provides a method for assessing hair damage. This method is characterized in that the evaluation is performed by specifically fluorescently labeling the carbonyl group of the oxidized protein in the hair and detecting the fluorescence. Such damage may be due to hair perm treatment, bleach or oxidative hair dye treatment, combing, heat treatment with a dryer, exposure to ultraviolet light, exposure to hypochlorous acid in a pool, or a combination thereof. |
