titleOfInvention Method for producing tertiary butyl alcohol
abstract A method for producing tertiary butyl alcohol having a high hydration rate of isobutylene is provided. Also provided is a method for producing tertiary butyl alcohol using low-concentration isobutylene as a raw material and having a high hydration rate of isobutylene. This method for producing tertiary butyl alcohol comprises using a reactive distillation apparatus from isobutylene and water in the presence of at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of sulfones and organic carboxylic acids, and a cation exchange resin catalyst. Tertiary butyl alcohol is produced. The solvent used in this case is preferably at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of sulfolane, dimethyl sulfone, and acetic acid.
