abstract By expressing a fusion protein of thioredoxin and the target protein in a cell-free protein synthesis system, at least a part of the fusion protein is synthesized as a soluble protein. The target protein is preferably a highly hydrophobic protein such as a membrane protein. In particular, a membrane protein such as a G protein-coupled receptor is very easily solubilized and has a biologically active three-dimensional structure. It can be manufactured in a state where it can be formed. The present invention further provides a recombinant vector for expressing such a membrane protein in a cell-free protein synthesis system.
