abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain a water-soluble antibacterial agent having excellent antibacterial activity, solubility in water and durable effect and free from precipitation, etc., even by compounding to a cosmetic, by treating a 2-mercaptopyridine- N-oxide polyvalent metal salt with a specific amount of a cyclodextrin. CONSTITUTION:The objective antibacterial agent is produced by treating 1mol. of a 2-mercaptopyridine-N-oxide polyvalent metal salt with >=15mol., preferably 15-20mol. of a cyclodextrin or its derivative. The 2-mercaptopyridine-N-oxide polyvalent metal salt (hereinafter called Mept) is expressed by formula (M is polyvalent metal atom; X is atomic valence of M) and is preferably zinc salt of 2-mercaptopyridine-N-oxide. The particle diameter of Mept is preferably about 1.0-3.0mum. The treatment of Mept with cyclodextrin is carried out by adding Mept to an aqueous solution of cyclodextrin and stirring the mixture at about 60 deg.C for several hours. |
