titleOfInvention Mildew-proofing agent
abstract PURPOSE:To provide a mildew-proofing agent containing specific ketoesters as active components, exhibiting excellent mildew-proofing effect, having little restriction caused by its taste and smell, non-toxic to human body and useful for imparting mildew-proofing property to foods, drinks, cosmetics and other materials. CONSTITUTION:At least one kind of compound selected from ketoesters of formula (n is 0-2; R is 1-5C alkyl) (e.g. methyl or ethyl pyruvate, methyl or ethyl acetoacetate, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl or isoamyl levulinate) is used as an active component of the objective mildew-proofing agent. The above compound of formula can be produced by conventional method. The compound has excellent growth-inhibiting effect against various kinds of mildews, exhibits the effect in gaseous state as well as liquid state and can be properly compounded to foods, drinks, cosmetics, etc., in the stage of raw material, production process or finished product.
