titleOfInvention | Preparation of copper phthalocyanine pigment |
abstract | PURPOSE:To prepare the title blue pigment useful as a colorant, vivid in hue and excellent in coloring power, by reacting a compd. capable of forming a phthalocyanine ring with urea and copper (compd.) in solvent sulfolane in the conjoint presence of a catalyst and a specific carboxylic acid (anhydride). CONSTITUTION:A compd. capable of forming a phthalocyanine ring (A), such as a phthalic acid salt, phthalic anhydride, phthalimide or phthalamic acid (salt), is admixed with 4-40mol. per 4mol. of the component A, of urea (B); 1-1.3mol., per 4mol. of the component A, of copper (compd.) (C) such as metallic copper, copper oxide, copper halide, copper cyanide, copper sulfate, copper acetate or copper sulfide; a catalyst (D) such as Mo, Ti or Zr compd.; and 1-30wt.% (based on the component A) of benzophenone-3,3',4,4'-tetracarboxylic acid or its anhydride (E) in solvent sulfolane, followed by a reaction at 150-250 deg.C. Thereafter, the solvent is distilled off under reduced pressure to give a powder, which is then washed with warm water or an aq. soln. of a mineral acid, followed by filtration. Thus, the title pigment is obtd. without the step of pigmentation. |
