titleOfInvention Novel fluorine-containing 2-nitroimidazole and radiation sensitizing agent containing said compound
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The 2-nitroimidazole derivative of formula I (Rf is fluorine- containing organic group having at least one F atom on a carbon atom bonded to the nitrogen atom of imidazole ring or on a carbon atom bonded to said carbon atom). EXAMPLE:3-(2'-Nitroimidazole)-2,2-difluoropropionic acid methyl ester. USE:A radiation sensitizer. A fluorine-containing radiation sensitizer promoting the radiation-induced inactivation of intractable and anoxic cell existing in malignant tumor. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced, for example when Rf is fluorine-containing alkyl, by adding a fluorine-containing epoxy compound to the compound of formula II and fluorinating the OH of the resultant compound with a fluorination agent.
