titleOfInvention Novel diimidodicarboxylic acid and production thereof
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A diimidodicarboxylic acid expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are halogen, 1-6C alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or 1-4C alkoxy; m and n are 1 or 2). EXAMPLE:1,4-Bis[(4-carboxy)phthalimido]-2,5-dimethylbenzene. USE:A raw material for polyester imides having better melt polymerizability than that of well-known diimidodicarboxylic acid. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with trimellitic acid anhydride in a molar amount of preferably twice based on the above- mentioned compound, preferably in an inert gas atmosphere, such as nitrogen or argon, in the presence of a polar solvent, such as dimethylacetamide or dimethylformamide, at 150-180 deg.C temperature under ordinary - higher pressure, normally for 5-10hr to efficiently afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
