titleOfInvention 1,1-diphenyl-1,1-bis(3-cyclohexyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)methane and production thereof
abstract NEW MATERIAL:1, 1-Diphenyl-1, 1-bis( 3-cyclohexyl-4-hydroxyphenyl ) methane expressed by formula I. USE:Useful as a raw material for high polymer such as polycarbonate, epoxy resin, aromatic polyester, polyformal resin, polysulfone, etc. PREPARATION:For example, O-cyclohexylphenol expressed by formula II is blended and reacted with a dihalogenophenylmethane (preferably dichlorodiphenylmethane), preferably using compounds of formulas II and III at mol. ratio of 2:1-3:1 at 60-100 deg.C while stirring until generation of hydrogen halide is stopped. As necessary solvent and catalyst may be used. The above- mentioned reaction is preferably carried out under nitrogen or inert gas.
