titleOfInvention | Method for decreasing radioactivity of atomic power plant and atomic power plant |
abstract | PURPOSE:To decrease the radioactivity concn. in reactor water by heating and circulating the primary cooling water of a primary cooling water circulation system in the presence of beryllium to form films consisting of nickel ferrite and cobalt ferrite on the surfaces of pipings and apparatus. CONSTITUTION:This atomic power plant is equipped with a beryllium injection device 12. The beryllium is incorporated in the structural materials of part or the whole of the wetting surfaces of in-pile structural materials such as condensate pipings, feed water pipings and feed water heaters. The iron clads, nickel and cobalt contained in the cooling water come into contact with the beryllium-contg. surfaces and forms the nickel ferrite and cobalt ferrite by receiving a catalytic effect when the beryllium is incorporated into the wetting surfaces of the structural materials which come into contact with the primary cooling water. The radioactivity concn. in the reactor water of cobalt 58 and cobalt 60 and the quantity of the surface dose of the pipings and apparatus are decreased, by which the exposure of the personnel engaged in the atomic power generation operations to radiations is extremely decreased. |
