abstract | PURPOSE:To produce the title plaster with markedly increased absorption of insulin, by forming the medicine layer containing insulin and a temperature- depending absorption accelerator and a heater which is on the back side of the medicine layer from the skin. CONSTITUTION:The subject plaster is composed of a medicinal layer containing a polymer soluble in water and/or lower alcohols, insulin, a temperature- depending absorption accelerator and a humectant and a heating layer which is on the back side of the medicinal layer from the skin. The polymer is, for example, a carboxyvinyl polymer and/or sodium polyacrylate, the absorption accelerator is glyceryl monostearate, diethyl sebacate, the humectant is glycerol, and the heat is a temperature-self controlling type chemical heat generator which can maintain 35-50 deg.C for 8-24hr (mainly containing iron dust and alkali metal sulfides). An optimal dose of insulin can be administered only by controlling the temperature of the heater. |
