abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain the titled novel copolymer useful as a curing agent for dental cement, providing a cured material having excellent bond strength and mechanical strength, comprising a specific unit containing a specific functional group having two carboxyl groups bonded to the same carbon atom. CONSTITUTION:The aimed copolymer which consists of a unit shown by formula I (R1 is H or alkyl; X1 and X2 are H or alkali metal; Y is alkylene; m is 0 or 1) and a unit shown by formula II (R2 and R3 are H, OH or alkyl; Z is H; n is m) and has the molar ratio of the unit I/II of 0.1-1 and 5,000-500,000 mol.wt. The copolymer may be obtained by reacting a compound shown by formula III such as allylmalonic acid with a compound shown by formula IV such as acrylic acid in a solvent such as methanol by using a radical polymerization initiator at 60-90 deg.C for 2-6hr. |
