abstract PURPOSE:To control organisms harmful to plants by excellent seed disinfection effects especially on bacterial grain rot of rice plant and bacterial spot of cucumber, by simply disinfecting plant seeds with an aqueous solution of a specific alkylbenzenesulfonic acid. CONSTITUTION:Plant seeds are immersed in an aqueous solution of at least one of an alkylbenzenesulfonic acid shown by formula I (R is 8-20C alkyl) such as straight-chain or branched dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid shown by formula II and a straight-chain or branched alkylbenzenesulfonic acid shown by formula III diluted 100-5,000 times, preferably 200-2,000 times for 1-72hr, preferably 4-48hr or brought into contact with the solution by sprinkling or spraying to control harmful organisms.
