abstract PURPOSE: To provide a picking nozzle so designed as to mount the nozzle body via a joint with a needle element having a weft inlet and an inside hole-forming element to afford an adjustable orifice so as to prevent abnormal fluid jets in the high speed operation of a water jet loom. CONSTITUTION: This picking nozzle is so designed that the nozzle body 4 is screwed via a joint 5 with a needle element 3 having a weft inlet 2 and an inside hole-forming element 7 as well so as to regulate their relative positions, wherein the tip of the needle element 3 is inserted into the inside hole-forming element 7 to afford a gap-adjustable orifice 8, and a fluid reservoir 6 is furnished between the orifice 8 and a fluid feed pipe 1 to prevent jet fluids from abnormal diffusion in the high-speed operation of a water jet loom and enable stable fluid jetting.
