titleOfInvention | Production of skin-core type conjugate fiber |
abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain the fiber outstanding in flame and oxidation resistance etc.,by coating the surface of the base fiber with a polycarbosilastyrene copolymer followed by applying heat treatment and/or ultraviolet irradiation to make the surface layer of the fiber infusible. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the base fiber such as pref. carbon fiber (precursor one), ceramic fiber (precursor one), metallic fiber and/or heat-resistant organic fiber is coated with a polycarbosilastyrene copolymer. Thence, either heat treatment in air or ultraviolet irradiation with e.g. sun lamp, is applied on the resultant fiber to make the surface layer of said fiber infusible, thus obtaining the objective conjugate fiber. |
