titleOfInvention Production of graft copolymer resin
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin excellent in dryability, compatibility and solubility, by copolymerizing specified COOH-containing cellulose acetate butyrate with a copolymerizable monomer containing a glycidyl-containing copolymerizable monomer. CONSTITUTION:2-60wt.%, based on the total of components A-C, cellulose acetate butyrate (A) containing 1.8-15wt.% acetyl groups and 36-58wt.% butyryl groups and at most 5wt.% OH groups is reacted with 0.05-15wt.%, based on the total of components A-C, unsaturated bond-free acid anhydride (B) selected from among succinic anhydride, phthalic anhydride, trimellitic anhydride and pyromellitic anhydride to obtain a COOH-containing cellulose acetate butyrate. This compound is copolymerized with 97.95-25wt.%, based on the total of components A-C, copolymerizable monomer containing 0.1-2wt.% glycidyl-containing copolymerizable monomer, i.e., glycidyl (meth) acrylate.
