abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain a flame-retardant polyester composition improved in residence stability in molding, decreased in a quantity of gases evolved and improved in mechanical and electrical properties, by mixing an aromatic polyester with an organic bromine compound and antimony trioxide having a specified crystal structure. CONSTITUTION:This frame-retardant polyester composition is formed by mixing 100pts.wt. aromatic polyester (A) with 1-60pts.wt. organic bromine compound (B) and 1-50pts.wt. antimony trioxide. Said antimony trioxide comprises at least 10wt.% one having a rhombic crystal structure. As component A, polybutylene terephthalate having moderate mechanical strengths is the most desirable. As component B, an organic bromine compound usually used as a flame retardant can be used, and especially, one having a bromine content >=20wt.% and an MW>=450 is desirable. |
