titleOfInvention Liposome/anthraquinone drug composition and therapy therewith
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a medical composition reduced in peroxylipids and free radial injuries by introducing a lipophilic free radical scavenger into a lipid bilayer part of a liposome and including a trihydroxamic chelating agent in the composition. CONSTITUTION: This composition comprises a liposome containing at least 0.1mol%, preferably 0.2-2mol% lipophilic free radical scavenger (e.g. α-tocopherol) introduced into a lipid bilayer part, an anthraquinone medicine having a quinone and a hydroquinone functional part in the adjacent anthraquinone ring (e.g. an anthracycline glycoside-based antibiotic agent such as doxorubicin or daunorubicin) and a trihydroxamic acid chelating agent present as a ferric ion in an excessive molar amount such as ferrioxamine. The size is mainly within the range of 0.05-0.25μm. An aqueous suspension containing at least 2.5mol% doxorubicin or its analog is administered to treat primary or secondary tumor of the liver.
