titleOfInvention Trimethylammonium salt derivative, its production and plant growth regulator containing said derivative as active component
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is esterified carboxyl; X is acid residue; n is 1-18). EXAMPLE:[11-(Methoxycarbonyl)undecyl]trimethylammonium iodide. USE:A plant growth regulator. Useful for suppressing the elongation of plant length and stalk length of e.g. soybean, cucumber, rice, barley, apple or pear. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by quaternarizing a dimethylamine derivative of formula II with a compound of formula CH3X. The ester of R in the compounds of formula I and formula II is 1-6C lower alkyl ester, e.g. methyl ester. The quaternarization reaction can be immediately carried out e.g. by dissolving the compound of formula II in anhydrous ether and dripping the compound of formula CH3X to the solution.
