titleOfInvention Composition for generating chlorine dioxide gas
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a composition for the intermittent generation of chlorine dioxide gas, simply by mixing an acidic inorganic compound containing adsorbed water or water of crystallization with a chlorous acid metal salt. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition for generating chlorine dioxide gas is composed of (A) a chlorous acid metal salt selected from chlorous acid alkali metal salt and alkaline-earth metal salt and (B) an acidic inorganic compound (e.g. acid clay, kaolin clay, talc, titanium dioxide, silica gel, ammonium sulfate, zeolite or ammonium chloride) wherein said acidic inorganic compound contains water of crystallization and/or adsorbed water and the water content in the whole composition is >=1%. The composition generates the gas at a low rate over a long period. The compounding ratio of both components is properly adjusted in case of using in a place having relatively high airtightness. It can be used for the disinfection and deodorization of refrigerator, kitchen, toilet, shoe box, closet, automobile, etc.
