abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound having excellent hydrolysis resistance and esterifiable to an ester utilizable in the field of paint, etc., at a low cost, by reacting isobutylene oligomer with carbon monoxide and water in the presence of a specific acid catalyst under a specific condition. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is produced by reacting isobutylene oligomer with carbon monoxide and water under 2W40kg/cm 2 , preferably 4W20kg/cm 2 pressure at 0W50°C using at least one kind of catalyst selected from a group of a catalyst composed of sulfuric acid, a catalyst composed of sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, a catalyst composed of boron trifluoride and water, a catalyst composed of sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, boron trifluoride and water and a catalyst composed of phosphoric acid, boron trifluoride and water.
