titleOfInvention Production of gas separating composite membrane
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform thin membrane by laminating an intermediate layer of a highly permeable polymer on a porous support layer, irradiating the surface of the intermediate layer with UV, bringing a soln. of a polymer having high gas separating performance into contact with the irradiated surface and removing the solvent. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer of a highly permeable polymer having 300Angstrom -5mum thickness is laminated on a porous support layer of polysulfone, etc., having 20-300mum thickness ant 5-500Angstrom average pore diameter by casting and drying a soln. of the polymer such as polysiloxane. The surface of the intermediate layer is irradiated with UV and the layer is dipped in an org. soln. of a polymer having high gas separating performance such as a copolymer of vinyl pivalate with ethylene trifluoride and ethylene glycol monomethacrylate. The layer is then dried to obtain a three-layered composite membrane.
