titleOfInvention Catalyst for exhaust gas purification
abstract PURPOSE:To increase the durability of a catalyst by causing a catalytic composition consisting of Pt carrying fire-proof inorganic oxide particles and/or Rh carrying inorganic oxide particles as well as Ce oxide blended to be carried by a honeycomb carrier as a coat for the latter. CONSTITUTION:Fire-proof inorganic oxide caused to carry 5-30wt.% Pt and/or fire-proof inorganic oxide caused to bear 1-20wt.% Rh are blended each in the form of 0.5-20mum average dia. particles. In addition, these are blended with Ce oxide to prepare a catalytic composition. This catalytic composition is allowed to be carried by a honeycomb carrier as a coat for the latter to form a catalyst for exhaust gas purification. The catalytic composition can also be blended with a fire-proof inorganic oxide such as active alumina. The catalyst thus obtained does not deteriorate much not only under a normal engine operating condition but also a severe condition such as high temperature oxidation atmosphere, and demonstrates superior durability.
