titleOfInvention Separation of cell
abstract PURPOSE:To efficiently separate cells of microorganism from mother liquor without requiring a filter aid, by adjusting a cell dispersion to proper pH and adding a polycarboxylate as pretreatment and treating the dispersion with a cationic high polymer flocculant. CONSTITUTION:A cell dispersion such as culture solution is adjusted to pH2.0-4.5, preferably about 2.5-4.0 and mixed with about 0.1-2% based on dried cell of a polycarboxylate such as alginate or polyacrylate. Then the dispersion is incorporated with a cationic high polymer flocculant, preferably a copolymer of acrylic cationic monomer and acrylamide having 1.5-4.5meq/g, especially about 2-4meq/g cation equivalent.
