titleOfInvention Photochromic composition
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a photochromic composition having excellent color forming properties, fading properties, weatherability, etc., by mixing a specified spironaphthoxazine derivative with an alkoxysilane compound having a poly(meth)acryloxy group. CONSTITUTION:A spironaphthoxazine derivative (A) of the formula (wherein R<1> is lower alkyl; X<1> and X<2> are each H, hydroxy, lower alkoxy or halogen) is mixed with an alkoxysilane compound (B) having a poly(meth)acryloxy group to give an objective photochromic composition. Examples of component B include polymethacryloxymethyltrimethoxyslane and a gamma- methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane/methyl methacrylate copolymer. This photochromic composition is suitably used for photochromic sunglasses, sunlight shielding window glass, an optical filter, etc.
