titleOfInvention Thermal recording material
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material capable of giving a developed color image having absorption in a near infrered region and excellent preservation stability, by providing on a base a thermal color forming layer comprising an organic vanadium compound, a specified gallic acid ester and a water-soluble binder as main constituentes. CONSTITUTION:A thermal color forming layer comprising an organic vanadium compound, a gallic acid ester of general formula I, wherein R is a 3-18C alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl or benzyl, and a water-soluble binder as main constituents is provided on a base. The organic vanadium compound may be, for example, vanadium stearate, vanadyl acetylacetonate or vanadium pivalate. The thermal recording material thus obtained can be coated by a leveling string coating, developed color images formed thereon can be read by using a semiconductor laser with near infrared rays, and the recording material has excellent color forming properties and preservability of images.
