abstract PURPOSE:To obtain hair cosmetic containing camellidine extracted from leaves of camellia, having effects capable of remarkably preventing the keratinization of the scalp which cause handruff and preventing change of odor and discoloration of a cosmetic base with time. CONSTITUTION:A hair cosmetic containing 0.001-5wt% of blended camellidine I expressed by the formula which is an antibacterial substance extracted from leaves of camellia or camellidine II (monoacetate of the camellidine I). The hair cosmetic is capable of preventing the keratinization of the scalp, sufficient in also efficient as a stabilizer, high in safety and satisfactory also for the use. When 0.001-5wt% vitamin E or derivative thereof in addition to the essential ingredient is blended, further remarkable effect is shown.
