titleOfInvention Polyester imide
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a polyester imide which can be melt-molded, has excellent strength, heat resistance, etc. and is suitable for use as an engineering plastic, consisting of an ester obtd. from a specified dicarboxylic acid component and a diol component composed of an arom. dihydroxy compd. n CONSTITUTION: A polyester imide having an intrinsic viscosity of not lower than 0.4 is composed of an ester obtd. from an acid component mainly composed of a dicarboxylic acid of formula I and a diol component composed of an arom. dihydroxy compd. (e.g., hydroquinone). The dicarboxylic acid of formula I can be obtd. by reacting a diamine of formula II with trimellitic acid in an amount of 0.2 time by mol that of the diamine. The desired polyester imide can be obtd. by reacting an acid chloride of the compd. of formula I with the arom. dihydroxy compd. or by reacting the compd. of formula I with a lower org. carboxylic acid ester of said dihydroxy compd. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
