titleOfInvention Fluorine-based inert liquid composition
abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition composed of a mixture containing straight-chain and branched perfluorotetradecanes at a specific ratio and suitable as a solvent for vapor-phase soldering because of its liquid nature at normal temperature, high thermal stability, nontoxic property and chemical inertness. CONSTITUTION:The objective fluorine-based inert liquid composition suitable as a solvent for vapor-phase soldering is composed of a mixture of straight-chain and branched perfluorotetradecanes (n, i-C14H30) containing <=20wt%, preferably <=16wt% straight-chain compound (n-C15H30). The composition has a boiling point of 215-218 deg.C and the above effects. Furthermore, it can be easily produced in high yield from perfluorooctanoic acid produced as a by product in the produc tion of ammonium perfluoroocanate which is a fluorine-based surfactant. Accord ingly, the production cost can be remarkably reduced. There is no danger of forming a deadly poisonous perfluoroisobutylene by the local heating in use.
