titleOfInvention | Emulsifier for aqueous resin dispersion |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title emulsifier especially useful for the aq. emulsion polymerization of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer by incorporating a compd. expressed by a specified formula into the emulsifier. n CONSTITUTION: A compd. expressed by the formula (R 1 is 8W30C alkyl, alkenyl, alkylaryl, or aralkylaryl, R 2 is H and methyl, A is 2W4C alkylene or substituted alkylene, (n) is 0W100 integer, (m) is 1W200 integer, M is alkali metals and NH 4 ) is incorporated to obtain the emulsifier for an aq. resin dispersion. Nonylphenol or lauryl alcohol is used as the starting material for the emulsifier, an alkylene oxide is added, if necessary, glycidyl methacrylate is allowed to react with the material in the presence of a catalyst, and an alkylene oxide is further added. The product is subsequently diesterified by maleic anhydride and then sulfated by a sulfating agent, and the emulsifier can be easily produced. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio |
