abstract PURPOSE: To suppress the deterioration in characteristic and to enhance the oxygen sensitivity of a sensor by using BaSnO 3 which obviates segregation of Ba and Sn as BaSnO 3 . n CONSTITUTION: BaSnO 3 with which segregation is eliminated is used as a material for the exhaust gas sensor. Such BaSnO 3 is prepd. by; for example, the following method: BaSnO 3 in which the segregation exists is first obtd. by reaction of SnO 2 and BaCO 3 , etc. The segregation is eliminated by repeating the integration and calcination of such BaSnO 3 . An Sn compd. such as stannic acid and barium compd. such as barium chloride are then brought into reaction in a strong alkali to obtain BaSnO 3 .nH 2 O (n is ≥3). Said compd. is obtainable easily as a pure crystal. Segregation-free BaSnO 3 is obtd. if said compd. is subjected to thermal decomposition. BaSnO 3 is also obtd. by dissolving an org. compd. of tin such as Sn(OC 2 H 5 ) 4 and org. compd. of barium such as barium ethylate in a common solvent such as ethanol and decomposing the same by spray combustion, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
