titleOfInvention Production of nitron
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a nitron useful as a synthetic intermediate for pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals and fine chemicals, in one step and high yield in an easily separable and purifiable state, by reacting a amine with a peroxide in the presence of a selenium compound. n CONSTITUTION: The nitron of formula II can be produced by reacting an amine of formula I (R 1 WR 3 are H, aliphatic, alicyclic, heterocyclic or heteroatom- containing hydrocarbon residue or aromatic hydrocarbon residue) with a peroxide in an organic solvent such as methanol, acetone, etc., using a non-metallic selenium compound as a catalyst at -50W+100°C. A nitron-acceptor may be present in the reaction system. Especially, addition of an olefin to the reaction system improves the production efficiency of a nitron adduct. The selenium compound is e.g. selenium dioxide, selenous acid, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
