titleOfInvention Production of cationic polymer latex
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled latex having stable absorptivity to negatively charged substance, by using an anionic polymer latex copolymerized with an unsaturated monomer having glycidyl group and mixing the anionic polymer with an organic amine in an aqueous medium. n CONSTITUTION: An anionic polymer latex copolymerized with an unsaturated monomer having glycidyl group (e.g. glycidyl acrylate) is mixed with an organic amine (e.g. triethylamine, N,N-dimethylethanolamine, etc.) in an aqueous medium to obtain the objective latex. The organic amine is consumed by chemical bond and the zeta potential of the latex particle is shifted to cationic nature exhibiting positive value in the whole range of hydrogen ion concentration. The latex is useful for the reinforcement of paint, paper and fiber, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1988,JPO&Japio
